Help with Plot for a Ghost story?
I’m trying to write a short ghost story, but need a little help with the plot. I want it to take place in the UK, but any plot you can think up, or any stories you’ve heard, would be a great help for me. I’m in the brainstorming process right now. Thanks!
Even a story of something that actually happened to you would be very helpful:D
A story I shouldn’t tell. Someone I met knew someone who used to work as a hostess in Luciano’s Casinos in New York in the thirties or forties. She was in a traffic accident when her boyfriend was driving, and died. Her boyfriend was very broken up. Nevertheless this source never liked him, and one night while she was dreaming, she met her dead friend, who told her it wasn’t an accident. They were fighting and he threw her out of the car while it was moving — he killed her.

The GHOST $3.48 The Ghost — the code name for the secret member of an undercover cop’s backup team. It is the Ghost’s job to remain hidden, blending into the scenery, maintaining close observation of his assignment’s surroundings. In short, he’s supposed to keep the undercover cop alive. The Ghost’s relationship with his undercover cop is unrivaled in its intensity. But every relationship has unpredictable turns, and in Marc Olden’s The Ghost, undercover cop Rosalind "Ross" Magellan’s relationship with her Ghost is no different. Magellan, impulsive, seductive, and an expert at the art of deceit and manipulation, is addicted to the rush of leading a double life; she has posed as a prostitute and a junkie to uncover dealers and sleazy players associated with New York City’s underground night culture. Roaming desolate streets, abandoned buildings, and after-hours clubs without a police radio, badge, or vest, and often without a gun, her character reveals the true underbelly of New York City. In the tradition of Ed McBain and Elmore Leonard, Marc Olden’s fastidious attention to nuance and the inner workings of the police reveals the work of a master crime writer. Mined with murder, blackmail, drugs, and betrayal, The Ghost is a story that will stay with readers forever. |

Ghost Story $4.98 Lying untapped within the workforce is a source of power that resides in the ideas and experiences of individuals. Once combined, this "cumulative wisdom" has the potential to become an organization’s strongest competitive advantage. Ghost Story is a business fable about the power of collaboration — and why people don’t tell what they know. The story begins when the heroine, Dot (short for Dorothy), becomes the newest member of a cross-functional team formed to solve a major corporate problem. Intimidated by other members, and overwhelmed by the fact that the rotating leadership position will be hers the following Monday, Dot sits alone in the team’s conference room Friday evening, commiserating with "her only friend in the place," a bonsai tree. When the tree starts talking back, the reader and Dot are swept into a fantasy world where Dot is again asked to lead a team. Although her team members are unique – this time they include a magpie who hoards information, a 5-and-a-half-foot tall index finger who blames her mistakes on others, a pig in an Admiral’s costume who "protects" staff by keeping them uninformed, the 3-year old head of IT who speaks only "dribble", and a Martian who is afraid to contribute because he’s an outsider – their reasons for refusing to collaborate are all too familiar. Dot’s adventures in this parallel universe mirror her real-life challenges. Dot, herself, is an example of what educators refer to as "unconscious competence." Simply put, she doesn’t know what she knows. At the conclusion of the story, of course, it is her courage, strength, and innate wisdom that save the day. By the end of the book, Dot learns to value her own knowledge and to help the team members see the advantages of open collaboration. |
